Tiffany Paige for Heal The Bay TV and Green With Tiffany talks to Los Angeles County Supervisor candidate Bobby Shriver at the Heal The Bay Bring Back The Beach Gala. Bobby tells us about his love for Heal The Bay and that when he was on the Santa Monica City Council he was inspired by Heal The Bay to help spearhead Measure V, which installed a storm drain under Santa Monica Pier and turned that beach from the most polluted beach in the state to a swimmable beach. He has fond memories of the both the beach where he grew up on the east coast and right here in Santa Monica as well. Bobby Shriver also co-founded (RED) to fight and end AIDS in Africa.

Make sure to get out and vote on November 4, 2014.

Info on Measure V: As a Santa Monica city councilmember, Bobby Shriver ran the campaign in 2006 that passed Measure V, which finances improvements to the city’s storm drains and other projects that keep urban runoff out of Santa Monica Bay. Water quality grades went from D’s and F’s to A’s by 2011. Heal the Bay’s Mark Gold said, “Measure V (the clean beaches and ocean ballot measure) never would have passed without Bobby Shriver.”
